Getting Started with Social Media: Your Key to Facebook
October 23, 2012 by Kristin Smith
My number one goal with this blog post is to get your business Facebook page up and running. You don’t have to start posting yet, but let’s get everything ready for when you are prepared to post.
Be sure to print off the Facebook planning sheet, before jumping into the step-by-step instructions below. I show you how to go through the steps in the video, and I talk about some additional features included on the planning sheet that you may find useful.
How to Create a Page on Facebook in 7 Easy Steps
1. Go to http://www.facebook.com/pages/create.php
2. Choose the Bank/Financial Services Category
3. Type in your company name, street address, city/state, zip code, and phone.
4. Add a profile picture, probably your business logo or a professional headshot of you.
5. Add a short description of your company and services in the About section.
6. Choose your Facebook Username (this is the end of your Facebook page web address).
7. Your page is now created, let’s jazz it up a bit:
a) Add little details like your hours.
b) Feel free to add company milestones like when you opened (if you scroll down your profile you’ll see the bar that says “When was this opened?”
c) Choose a cover photo. For now you don’t have to get too fancy, but preferably hire a graphic designer to do something custom for you. As a placeholder you can use a photo of the outside of your business.
